What resources does Cape Edit use during the editing/proofreading process?

MLA and APA manuals, Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster Book of Punctuation, Merriam-Webster Grammar Manual, Webster's Dictionary, Roget's Thesaurus, McGraw-Hill Desk Reference for Editors, Writers, and Proofreaders, and many others. 

 

When will my document be edited?

Most documents, depending on length, have a 24 hour turn-around.  Feel free to call us to discuss your personal time constraints.  Cape Edit strives to accommodate the tightest schedule.  Editing begins when payment is received.  During times of high submission, documents will be edited in order of submission and payment receipt.

 

How long does it take to receive my edited document?

Electronic documents will be returned to the author as soon as they are finished.  Local customers with hard-copy documents will be called as soon as the document is finished and can arrange for pick-up or delivery (delivery includes a minor charge).  For customers wishing to have their hard-copy mailed to them, the USPS says Priority Mail arrives in 2-3 days, Express Mail arrives overnight, and Media Mail generally follows the same guidelines as Priority.

Does Cape Edit do mass printing/copying jobs?

Currently, Cape Edit is not equipped for mass printing or copying.  See our Links tab for suggestions of both local and national companies providing this service. 

 

What types of clients benefit from editing services?

Psychologists, Social Workers, Students, Small Businesses, Restaurants, Hotels and Inns, Freelance Writers, Advertisers and Marketers, Teachers, Managers, anyone who uses writing in their profession.

 

What are your hours of operation?

Cape Edit accepts submissions electronically 24 hours a day.  We operate in Eastern Standard Time.  Submissions can be dropped of by appointment.  Contact us by phone or email to arrange a time.  Currently, Cape Edit does not have a secure drop box, but we intend to install one shortly.

 

Are there any documents Cape Edit refuses to proofread or edit?

Cape Edit will not work on documents that advocate or exhibit criminal behavior.

Cape Edit will not work on documents that are pornographic.

Cape Edit will not work on documents that advocate or exhibit abuse of children or animals.

 

Do you give any discounts?

Yes.  Cape Edit offers a student discount of 5% per job (student I.D. required) and a repeat customer discount of 5% per job.  Only one discount honored at a time.

 

If I pay you for a Standard Proofread and then decide I want another service, like Editorial Porofreading or Copyediting, am I charged for the full rates or for the difference?

As long as Cape Edit has not returned the document, you will only be charged the difference.  Once the document is returned to the author, any further editing is charged at the full rate.
